Low cost coverage for homeowners and landlords

Possessions Cover

Our Personal possessions option enables you to cover items of clothing, jewelry and articles that you and your family normally wear or carry with you, or make personal use of when you are out and about.

Is it for you?

Do you have jewellery, watches or other personal belongings and worry about how they would be replaced if they were lost, stolen or damaged whilst away from the home? Equally, in light of the ease with which mobile phones and laptops can be mislaid or stolen, you may consider this cover to be a valuable option.

Including the Personal possessions insurance option as part of the Crystal Cover Home insurance policy, will enable you and your family to take possessions out with you in the knowledge that you will be compensated for loss or damage to them.

What’s included and what’s not

The Personal possessions option from Crystal Cover Home insurance protects your jewellery, clothing, handbags, portable electronic items such as laptops or iPods and bicycles in the home and when you take them out with you in the UK or Europe and, for up to 60 days in any year, anywhere else in the world.

If you include the Unspecified personal possessions option in the Crystal Cover Home Insurance policy you will benefit from:

  • Cover for pedal cycles with an individual value of up to £1,000, providing they are properly secured when away from home
  • Up to £500 cover for loss or damage to your money

Sports equipment cover can also be included as part of the Personal possessions option and you can further enhance your protection to cover your Sports equipment for damage whilst in use.

The first £50 of any claim is not covered.

Protecting your personal possessions

The Crystal Cover Personal possessions option covers you for damage to, or the loss of, your personal possessions. There are a number of precautions you can undertake to reduce the risk of loss or damage:

  • Keep serial numbers and receipts for all new items of jewellery or personal equipment you purchase.
  • Take time to photograph earrings, rings, watches and necklaces and other items of value.
  • Ensure that cases, bags and other items you take away from the home have clasps and locks that function properly.
  • Be aware of your belongings in a public place. Thieves can distract you for a moment and your possessions are gone.
  • Avoid carrying more cash than is necessary.
  • Secure bikes properly, with good quality locks or heavy chains, whenever you leave them.
